Batts, blown-in, and the right material for the space

Fiberglass batts are a practical fit for open stud bays, floor systems, and new construction walls where the framing is regular and the cavities are accessible. Blown-in insulation covers attic floors evenly, gets into the corners and around obstructions, and lets us build depth to hit the R-value the project calls for. Many jobs use both: batts in the walls, blown-in over the attic floor, and foam or sealant at the penetrations that leak. We look at the assembly, the access, and the ventilation before recommending a material, because insulation that is compressed, gapped, or blocking soffit vents does not perform the way the label says.

Removal and replacement

Older Wenatchee-area attics and crawl spaces often hold insulation that has settled, been disturbed by rodents, absorbed moisture, or simply been pushed around by decades of storage and mechanical work. Adding new material on top of that rarely fixes the problem.
